UNICEF report: "Violence Against Children"
Child sexual abuse has been recognized as a social malaise that is prevalent with in and outside the home and among all socio-economic strata in the south Asia region. The aim of this second phase study was to achieve a fairly representative survey on the level of understanding of child sexual abuse and the prevalence of different forms of sexual abuse among children outside the Nepal.
The goal of the present study is to contribute towards providing a safer environment in different localities where all girls and boys are able to exercise their right to protection against child sexual abuse along with their rights to quality primary educations.

The study focused in and around the municipality areas of Pokhara, Biratnagar, Narayanghat and Birendranagar and few VDC areas. Data from 4,100 students from grade five to ten in government and private schools were gathered. Qualitative research part-mainly focused on group discussions with children in difficult circumstances such as street children and squatter area children and children in non-government institutions from the same areas. Questionnaire surveys were also done. Children from different grades, age, sex and status were chosen with at least 500 cases from each district; totaling 2,000 cases.
