Wangchuck Centennial Park - Western Range Office

On 21st November, 2011 the western range office of Wangchuck Centennial Park located in Sephu village under Wangduephodrang district was formally inaugurated by the Minister of Agriculture and Forests Lyonpo (Dr.) Pema Gyamtsho and Liisa Rohweder, CEO of WWF Finland. Officials from WWF, Bumthang district, Wangchuck Centennial Park and local communities attended the inauguration ceremony.

During the inauguration, the Minister stressed on the important role the range office would play for the park in terms of enhancing easy monitoring and patrolling. The park staff will now be able to monitor nearby areas like Tazi, Nubi, Dangchu, Sephu and Lunana more effectively. Prior to the construction of the range office, park staff had to travel all the way from the park headquarters in Bumthang to cover the western region. The office was built at a cost of Nu. 3 million and was designed to meet the international standard of green building design concept. The Minister thanked WWF Finland for their financial support.

Also following the range office inauguration, a 9 km Nakha road was also inaugurated on the same day. The new road will benefit 17 households of Nakha village by providing better connectivity with the Trongsa-Thimphu national highway, and help the farmers market their agriculture produce at competitive rates. The park road will also enhance regular patrolling of the area by park staff.
