A new landmark in Swiss-Bhutan cooperation: New bridge in Wangdue Phodrang

HRH the Crown prince Dasho Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuk at the formal opening of the Wangdue bridge with foreign dignities and senior government officials

The approach to Wangduephodrang is dramatic. On the left ridge the contours of the dzong etches an unforgettable sky-line. On the right, the well known Rinchengang terraces slope steeply up beyond the tree-line. On the valley floor, the Tsangchu meanders deceptively as it gathers momentum for the rapids towards Tsirang.

The Crown Prince Dasho Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck formally opened a new element in this landscape: the Wangdue-Tsangchu Zam, which is widely seen as a blend of tradition and modernity, also representative of Bhutan's development philosophy.
